our story
I’ve always been akin to elderly folk, soaking in their wisdom, life experiences, and stories about the good ole days. When my father’s health began to digress in the early 90’s, our family searched high and low for the right community to take care of him as he had always taken care of us. I wanted what anyone wants for their loved one—a place where he could feel safe, loved, and known. A place where he would be treated as family and even be served his favorite breakfast, hot tea and eggs on toast. My unsuccessful search for this dream community evolved into a personal quest, and I took it upon myself to create what didn’t yet exist. While it didn’t come to fruition during my father Jake Hill’s lifetime, I believe it would do him great honor to see the doors opening on our dream community Hill House this coming year in our hometown Palouse, the very place this farm girl was born and raised.
